Stop Motion Research
Stop motion animation is a traditional techniques off animation used for 100 of years. The idea of the animation is to create the illusion of moving image by capturing multiple picture moving the main objection frame at a time. when playing the pictures in a numerical sequence the object and characters appear to move and the narrative comes to life. 12 pictures or frames are used to create one second.
So how was this captured? Early stop motion was captured using film camera, this was difficult process as the animators could not see how the work till not was finished and the pictures were fully developed. This could be as difficult process as If something changed or went walking during that process the animator would have to start over again.
However as we head into modern times and new technology the cameras in which were used changed and became much more flexible in terms of process and usage. For example in 2005 the famous animation, The Corpse Bride was shot with the Canon Eos-1D Mark 11, this made it the first stop motion camera to be captured with a digital camera and DSLR. DSLRs became a key element of stop motion production as shortly after its usage Canon and Nikon introduced a feature known as live view. Live view was an element that could provide a video stream of the image through the lense. Since then DSLRs and livelier captured some of the most professional stop motion animations.
As well as doing basic internet research I also watched this video below which explains other details of stop motion animation such as the puppets and how are they built. This was a useful source to look into ad not provided many detailed facts along with images and videographer to show examples.
