Stop motion experimentation- Frog Animation
After researching into stop motion animation I wanted to create my own piece playing around with character and narrative however using traditional techniques. To do this I began by creating a character, to do this I used FIMO polymer clay. From this I created my frog creature as seen in the video below. Below is the first task I created.
Above shows the second take for my animation, in this piece I decided to alter some details for example when the frog decided to reach for the prey with his tongue instead of using separate pieces to represent the extending of the tongue ii decided to use one longer piece that rolled outwards. I felt this looked more effective and added a smoother look too this part of the animation. All together this animation was made of 89 frames and lasted up to nine seconds making it on average 10 frames per second. This was much quicker than the last take as the frames seemed to be at fifteen per second making it feel more clumpy and less smooth within the movements.
To add all the photographs together to create a sequence I used to adobe application premiere rush, this is the small application version of the main software and allowed me to simply add the images together to create there sequence which would therefore create my moving image. I found this software super useful and worked really well when it came to editing and creating there final stop motion.
Overall for my first stoop motion animation I was super with how this looked, however moving forward and if I was to repeat this I would add more professional elements that feature in my research. For example I will use my DSLR camera and professional tripod to help keep the camera steady when filming. I will also use artificial lighting to help keep the lighting consistent instead of relying on natural lights as this will cause different shadows throughout filming.
