Process of creating visual application animation

As well as showing the final animation I wanted to explain the process in which I created any animation. from elements, to setup and. the final editing stage. To create my animation I began by creating the artwork. Below shows all the individual elements that I drew and cut out. I wanted to work on them digitally to keep the style of my visual application project and also thought out would bring a modern twist to the traditional technique.

When planning for my stop motion animation I revisited my digital version and loved the way I used alternating shapes of smoke coming out of the rocket to create this idea of movement within keyframes. Therefore, I took this idea and created three different rocket layers that I would cut and alternate when filming thew different frames. This did become tricky during the process however, I felt by using this secondary animation ib was creating depth within the finished product and drew the viewer into the piece.

Once I had finished creating the digital drawings I printed each out onto thick cartridge paper to help give that sturdy look swell as helping them bend slightly into place when it came to filming. To do this I printed most on A4 sheets of paper however, the larger background was printed onto A3 so I was able to keep that larger scale and when editing the final piece no border forth surface underneath could be seen.
Some of these were tricky to cut and there were some elements that were missing such as antenna from the rocket however, I adapted to this and made sure to cut careful suing a crafting knife. Overall I liked how the layers looked however would have liked for the colours to been printed stronger so they appeared more vibrant on camera. However, this is something that is hard to be determined until after printing.

Once cutting out these elements I began setting up the area where I would capture my animation. To do this I had to think about what camera I should use and how I could improve the lighting to get the best picture as possible. To do this I used my digital cameras the Sony alpha and used a ring light for artificial lighting so if the natural light changed init shouldn't effect it. I feel this set up worked perfectly and really helped me capture my images in the best way. Altogether I took 200n pictures for there animation making it along animation then originally planned however this was not a negative.

The picture above shows a photos during the filming process in which you can see the placement of the elements and how they are being moved infant of the camera. Once I had finished the animation process I uploaded all the photos onto may computer and used premier pro to edit and put together alll the pictures. At first I found using the software rather difficult and struggled to edit the duration and timing without causing spacing. However, after googling and watching some tutorials I found it rather straight forward and easy.

Overall I feel the process went rather soothly and feel after doing some researching and planning I was able to really show thew ideas that I wanted to create. Too improve anything I would ,maybe add some sound into the finalised format, however this ism something I added into premier when creating my showreel.
