Creating GiFs using procreate
After creating some animations and experimenting with the procreate application i wanted to return back to this software and create a different style of moving images. Therefore, this time round with my animation experimentation I wanted to create some GIFs. So what is a GIF?
A GIF Is an image either static or animated that plays in a loop form and often used on many social media platforms. Therefore, I wanted to create different more simplistic style of moving image using procreate.
Above shows a screenshot from the procreate software during the production of my GIF. From this i am able to show that my GIF is made up of three key frames, this gives it that clumpy style of movement instead of a gradual growth. This style of animation is used often within GIFs as it is seen as more quick and playful. In this screenshot it also shows how you create a key frame in procreate. For example in procreate instead of a seperate key frame button, the key frames are linked to the different layers. Therefore for each movement i must create a new layer.
I really like this GIF and think it shows the fun simplistic style of moving image and suits my overall style.
The second GIF i created was also more of a simplistic style yet i wanted to create a narrative within this. Therefore in my GIF seen bone we can see a light camp seen sat amongst the woods during a starry night. In this piece i wanted to animate only some elements therefore i chose to animate the stars and also the camp fire. In this GIF i only used two key frames to stick to that clumpy look that works in the loop style format. In this piece i really like how the fire moves as i feel it adds more narrative and character into the scene however, i feel the stars may move too much and may appear not so smooth.
Overall I feel like these GIFs are successful and suit my style and the idea that I was creating them for. If I was to improve and adapt them I would add some more frames and create and experiment with a smoother GIF.
