Animations that inspire me
When looking and researching into animation, I wanted to show some of my favourite animation that has inspired me from a young age. All animation here have a very different feel and all show uniques values and styles.
(Clip example taken from an epsisode)
The first Animation that I feel has inspired me from a young age and made me fall in love with illustration and pattern design was Lauren Child's Charlie and Lola. young age I was fascinated with this show, watched it all day ad night had every season on disc and would fall asleep to it every night. Now looking back I think I was drawn in by the unique art style and the bright colours, I was also immersed in the fun and engaging characters. All of these elements are important parts of creating a successful animation. I particularly love how it has that look that it was made of paper college elements and therefore bringing a modern twist to the traditional look.
The second animation which I feel captured my imagination always was this scene from beauty and the beast. This well known scene is loved by many and whether that from the connection between the characters, the lighting created all the overall vibe from the song. Each element is paired perfectly together to create a scene that grabs th heart of the viewer and develops the story in a new direction. When thinking about music and audio it is important to think of its impact on an animation sequence, without the music this piece would still be effective however, by adding the song it creates a magical effect that Disney is we'll known for. What I particularly love about this scene is the different viewpoints in which the scene shows, as its switches into details the ceilings before switching back to a wide shot of the couple giving the viewer the feel of the environment they are in.
Whilst on the theme of Disney animation, another animation that has captured my heart and allows me to feel a true appreciation for the art of animation is Disneys Moana. Moana was produced and released ion 2016 and really shows the development of animation and it technology within Disney. The clip above comes from the song 'Where you are and featured a wide range of angle views and perspectives. For examnp[le not only does it look at the people but also there landscapers within this animation is s powerful dn full f so much detail. Again like beauty and the beast, this animation uses music in a powerful way to create a connection between the viewer and the animation to immerse them, into there world.
MY final pick, although there could be many more, is from Studio Ghibili film Princess Mononoke a film produced in 1997. This clip I actually filmed ,myself from a specific scene. I chose this scene as I love the way studio ghilbli captures landscapes ad animation. The landscapes always look traditionally painted and have a unique charm that instAntly creates a connection between the viewer and character. The moment you see him running amongst the vast field through the grass planes, and even though the character is such. small space it draws your attention to him and also the other elements of the scene such as the wind blowing across the grass and also the glimmering on the water surface.
There were many different animations and animations studios I could have included in animations that inspire me, however, I wanted to show some key ones that i feel that I could take inspiration from their style and technique and use it in a simpler way within my own work.
